Lou & Pepper: Our First Blog Post!

Hello Fellow Partiers!

We are so excited to share with you our first blog post for Lou & Pepper!

Fittingly, our first post is a tutorial on how to create the pinwheel wall from our first photo shoot for L&P.

Our goal was to create a beautiful and artistic background set in a natural space and, most importantly, make it something that anyone can do with a few supplies and little elbow grease!

Creating a focal point at a party brings the theme to life! It is a perfect place to set the cake or dessert table (yum!) and simultaneously creates a fantastic photo backdrop.

The finished product...Yay!

Here is what we used:

  • Assorted Foil Pinwheels – we got ours @shopsweetlulu – we love these because they are sturdy enough to reuse
  • Colorful Paper Pinwheels
  • Tissue Tassel Garland
  • Tissue Bunting - we got ours @orientaltrading
  • Double sided tape and/or glue dots
  • String

The most important task is figuring out what colors to choose. Selecting a variety of complimentary colors and textures adds complexity and depth which is important, especially when taking photos.

We placed the biggest fans first, moved on to the next size and so on. In order to secure the pinwheels we used the existing string along with double sided tape. This allowed us to secure them together and create the layered effect. The branches and the leaves were helpful for this!

TIP: Save all the packaging for the pinwheels! When the party is over, gently take them down and put them back in their packages for easy storage.

Thanks for reading along! We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
